Ronaldo will pay Corinthians if he gets injured

Corinthians have made it clear that if Ronaldo injures himself then he will have to pay them €2.2 million.

Corinthians’ vice-president Sergio Alvarenga told Folha:

“If he injures himself for Corinthians and cannot return then he will have to pay.

“And, if after recovering he joins another club, then the clause will be €7.6 million.

“This solution will protect our interests.”

It has been reported that Ronaldo will be earning €4 million a season.

Corinthians protected by a $10m Ronaldo release clause

Corinthians have protected themselves with a $10 million release clause in case Ronaldo does leave the club.

Corinthians are aware that other clubs have been interested in signing Ronaldo and more will want to lure him once they see him fit and back on the pitch.

”Corinthians are protected. We already thought about him leaving the club. We have paid nothing to sign him and would receive 25million reais if he quits. It would be the best business in the history of the club,” said Luis Paulo Rosenberg, Director of Marketing at Corinthians.

”There is no chance for Ronaldo to quit. The world is running out of money,” he added.

Rosenberg also went on to say that it would not be easy for Ronaldo or the club to abandon the contract.

“Ronaldo will also have a compensation clause if the one-year contracts are broken.”

”If Ronaldo wants to quit and the company also want to, it will not be that simple,” he explained.

”Everything will have a clause. There might be an interest in the player, but the shirt is Corinthians.”

Ronaldo allowed to eat what he wants during Christmas

Although Ronaldo now weighs 95 kg, Corinthians coaching staff have given Ronaldo the go ahead to eat whatever he wants over Christmas.

“You can’t persecute Ronaldo during Christmas, and I don’t think he will put on a great deal of weight in one night. He won’t be able to take in 3 kilos of food, and he will surely know how to control himself,” Corinthians physiatrist, Danile Leite Portella, told Globo Esporte.

The catch is that Ronaldo will need to lose 5 kg in two weeks. This will mean that Ronaldo will be put on a strict training routine and strict diet so that he can begin the season with a weight around 89 kg -90 kg.
