Corinthians technical team is working Ronaldo hard to get him back into shape

Ronaldo has been working extremely hard to get back into shape for the start of the season and this has impressed coach Mano Menezes.  Ronaldo was quoted saying “someone will pay for the sacrifice that I’m doing,” this morning during training and coach Menezes is loving Ronaldo’s determination.

“Thinking this way, it will certainly help him get back into shape,” said coach Menezes, in an interview with Radio Jovem Pan “He has great dedication to return to play at a high level. This is the highest point that I see it,” he added.

For the coach, the dedication is also due to the pressure that the technical team is putting on Ronaldo.

“Pressing Ronaldo to work more everyday under the close supervision and knowledge of the technical team has boosted Ronaldo’s motivation.  We want him ready as soon as possible and by the looks of thing he will be very close to the player he was in 2002,” said Menezes.

Pressing Ronaldo every day to work more, but is an intelligent pressure within the technical knowledge, in what he knows it can do, and we want him ready as soon as possible. We have a very good prospect that he will be very close to a player that was in 2002. ”

Menezes did not want to reveal too much but did state that Ronaldo needs to lose about six kilos.

“More or less in line to six kilos. He needs to turns his fat inti muscle mass to approach this ideal weight. The more you suffer with joint, it is necessary to lose more weight,” said the coach.

Flamengo blame Nike for Ronaldo’s signing with Corinthians

Flamengo continue to be furious after Ronaldo controversially snubbed them to sign a deal with Brazilian rivals Corinthians last year.

The club from Rio de Janeiro, whom Ronaldo is a devoted fan of, feel that they have been “cheated” and that world famous sportwear and equipment supplier Nike, may be to blame.

The president of Flamengo, Marcio Braga, sent a “formal” letter to the representatives of the American sports brand, asking them if they “interfered” in Ronaldo’s surprise move to Corinthians in any way.

Nike currently sponsors both clubs, as well as the individually sponsors the 32-year-old former FIFA World Footballer of the Year. Flamengo are in conflict with Nike, after having terminated their contract before the agreed time.

Flamengo have already announced that they signed a new deal with Brazilian brand Olympikus, meaning that they will no longer wear Nike.

Ronaldo had trained with Flamengo for almost three months, to regain his fitness, but despite this and the fact that he is a supporter of the club, he decided to join Corinthians instead, to the frustration of Flamengo.

Robinho says that the real phenomenon is Ronaldo not Cristiano Ronaldo

Robinho has declared that eventhough he rates Cristiano highly he does not believe that Cristiano is a phenonmenon.  He doesn’t even class him with the best Ronaldo.

“The Brazilian Ronaldo is a phenomenon,” he told Record.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is a great player and deserves the Ballon D’Or, but he is not a phenomenon,” added Robinho.
