Brazil’s President Lula calls for Ronaldo’s return to the Selecao

Posted April 30, 2009

Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva pledged on Tuesday his full support for the return of Ronaldo to the Selecao. Lula is a huge fan of the Corinthians and has praised Ronaldo’s contribution to the teams excellent performance this year.

According to Lula, Ronaldo is a “chubby” player who is literally “eating up” his adversaries’ defense. Lula’s declarations about Ronaldo’s return to the national team come just days after ex-player Romario made the same affirmation.

“His recuperation and perseverance has made us all happy. I admire people who never quit. There are some people who fold at the first signs of a cold. Ronaldo is reaping what he sowed. The way in which he is playing, the only problem we are going to have is deciding who is going to be his back-up on the national team. At some point, Dunga will have no choice but to call Ronaldo to the national team. It will be extraordinary if he truly is invited to play, even out of his old shape,” said Lula..

The phenomenon will be called up sooner than we even thought, like the president said, its only gona be a hard decision to pick his backup, R9 and Pato should be a lock, along with Robinho, Kaka and Ronaldinho. The confed cup is shaping up to be the phenomenon’s comeback party on the world stage, I can’t wait. Dunga: Open up ur eyes, and watch the sunrise! The best striker of all time is officially back :)

The President deserves the President’s Medallion! If Dunga doesn’t call Ronaldo while he’s fit and playing well and God forbid he waits until sometimes happens to the Phenomenon again, he’s going to be “persecuted.”

Hahaha…Dunga is in a such a bad spot, if he doesn’t call Ronnie up, and brazil fail to win the World Cup, he might as well just buy a house in a different country because living in Brazil will be a living hell for him. OPEN YOUR EYES DUNGA!!!

I think it’s too early for him to return in Seleçao in June. He is not at 100 %, far from it. For example, he is not able to dribble a defender yet or to play twice in the same week, he needs more games.
It will be dangerous for him to replay at international level in only one month. But if he continues in this way, the qualifications games for WC in september is a reasonnable target.
Think at the best for Ronaldo, not for yours…

    (Scuse my english, I’m french…)

Ronaldo needs to improve his running. THAT SAID, in the match where he scored against santos, he didnt seem any different that other players.

    Deadli!!! Dunga a twat

  10. Ronaldo9 on April 30th, 2009 2:38 pm

Dunga is not recalling Ronaldo because he is trying to prove that if Brazil do well, it’s gonna be because of HIM and not some player…well that strategy is going to bite him in the ass when that once deadly offense will barely find the net in South Africa, unless he calls up Ronaldo.

I’m Brazilian and I hate the selecao, unless if Ronaldo is there. I’m a CORINTHIANS supporter and the PHENOMENON is my idol since 13 years ago, in the olympic games of atlanta.

wtf dunga, u dumb, u need to call the PHENOMENON!

    GO RONALDO! VAI CORINTHIANS!!!

Just think of the quality the 2002 world cup team had.

    Ronaldo
    Ronaldinho
    Rivaldo
    Denilson
    Kleberson
    Roberto Carlos
    Cafu

That was an awesome team and all big names. I dont care how old he gets, Roberto Carlos should always be in the selecao lol.

Please don’t rush him. First, he need to lose a lot of weight. He has to get back to an appreciable level of fitness, which unfortunately is not the case now. Lets pray he loses at least 8 pounds, rediscover the repertoire of skills that made him the most skillful center forward ever and build upon his ever improving pace. When he is able to achieve this, i wager he will once again be the best player in the world and win the world cup for a third time.

Agree with kiki! lets pray he’d get the best fitness.glory glory R9

As written in this article, Dunga will not call Ronnie for the Confederation Cup in the next June and will not call him for the next qualification matches of Brasil.
Dunga said that ronaldo needs time for his complete recover and for his return to 100%.

I would like see R9 in National team with all my heart, but I also think that for now is important that Ronaldo can plays and training well, for finding his better condition.
the important thing is not injuring, and in the next future surely I think we can see him in Brasilian team.
But we need to have patience.

I’m very happy to see Ronaldo playing.
I hope he can play until 40 years old.
He is my idol, my best football players.

I’m italian, but I go to sleep very late everytime Corinthians plays for seeing Ronnie.
    :-)

    Ciao! from Italy

I might be the farest supporter of Ronaldo,I’m from Mauritius in the Indian ocean, but I’m his biggest fan.Dunga doesn’t have any choice;sooner or later he’ll be forced to call him,but let’s hope it’ll be the sooner. The world needs to see one among the ten best footballer of all time for a last time in a world cup.Not only Ronaldo’s fans but everyone, because we’ll have to wait for ages before getting another player like him.And perhaps we might not see another player born with such pure talent.Without his injuries,he would be the best footballer of all times.
