Corinthians are Paulista State Champions

Ronaldo

The game ended 1-1 in the second leg with goals from Klebler for Santos and Andre Santos for the Corinthians. After two legs the Corinthians were ahead 4-2 on aggregate and the Corinthians are now Paulista State Champions.

The win is the first Brazilian title for Ronaldo who has done so much for the team and for Brazilian football. After the game Ronaldo said, “I just want to celebrate but they are not letting me.”

The coach was just as excited and emphasised the importance of Ronaldo without forgetting to mention the help of the team.

“Seeing a player like Ronaldo, he has a lot of capacity. Everybody knows he has a lot of significance in football but you still need a lot players that are consistent to help Ronaldo out,” said Mano.

Ronaldo did not celebrate like he did after his first goal for the Corinthians but explained the reason for this was because of the mess it would cause plus they still need to face Atletico-PR on Wednesday.

“I would love to be celebrating like everyone else in the crowd but there is a lot of mess out there so I have to sit here and hide. With all the hard work we are now undefeated champions but we have to celebrate calmly as we have another game on Wednesday,” said Ronaldo whilst sitting on the bench before the trophy celebration.

Ronaldo once again urged a call back to the Selecao.

“I deserve to be back in the Selecao as I am a soldier in what I do,” concluded Ronaldo.

Ronaldo didnt say I deserve … why do you write lies.
Ronaldo is at 60% of his abbilities ,when he gets to 80% wich he will probably be in July he will be considerable for Selecao.

I’m glad the Brasileirao Championship is starting straight away, so that Ronaldo can carry on playing instead of having a brake. im sure he’s desperate to play again after not scoring last night in front of dunga.

Adrian you are wrong, paulista isnt qualifier for ‘brasileirao’.
In brasileirao we have 6 teams of sp determined by ‘brasileirao b series’ in 2008.’

    These teams are:
    corinthians
    santos
    palmeiras
    sao paulo
    santo andre
    barueri

Others 14 teams of others districts complete the 20 teams of ‘brasileirao’.

SP is the most representative regional district with 6 teams.

  11. Fernando J Capeletto on May 4th, 2009 9:49 am

Explaining, same system on europe tournaments, the last 4 teams will play ‘brasileirao b series’ in 2010 and the first 4 teams of ‘brasileirao b series’ in 2009 will play main ‘brasileirao’(‘A’ series) in 2010.

Corinthians was one of last 4 in 2007 and because it play ‘b series’ in 2008, and was champion of ‘b series’ giving wright to play ‘a’ series in 2009.

Other teams of SP wicht gained this wright in 2009 was Santo Andre and Barueri.
