Dunga has made a remarkable turn around since being heavily criticised during the start of his campaign as boss of the Brazilian Team. He has guided the team to success in the Copa America and the Confederation Cup, although the later was not so convincing.
Ronaldo who played alongside Dunga in 1994 and 1998 has been impressed with his former teammate.
“The team is being very well prepared by Dunga,” Ronaldo told the Brazilian press.
“Each day I am more surprised by his quality as a coach, by his choices.”
Ronaldo also once again stated his desire to return to the Brazilian Team.
“I miss it [playing for Brazil] a lot, but everything has its moment. If I return to the team, I will take that moment.
“But right now I am like a Brazilian supporter, in love with football.”

Brazil should always be the most skillful team.
I dont want to see Brazil play like England (with Fabio Capella tactics).
The goals scored in WC 2002 by Brazil were generally a result of brazillians being kickass at football, not some rubbish tactics crap.
I am from England, and when England are knocked out of the competition I then need to watch brazil’s beautful play until the end of the tornament.
Take away Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Juninho and you are left with a boring team.
Robinho and Kaka are the only players that give a small amount of what Brazil were like in 1998 and 2002. I miss those days.
Times have changed.. we saw for ourselves that putting the most skilled Brazillians together on 1 team doesn’t necessarily work = Brazil 2006 World Cup squad. End result was disappointment. The 2009 Confederations Cup team was balanced with attackers and players to do the dirty work. You need fast, athletic players who play with a team-mentality. The 2006 Selecao was so talented on paper, but what did they really accomplish? Wins against Croatia, Australia, Japan and Ghana?? All 3rd-rate teams. They barely even had any shots on-goal vs France!
Besides Zidane, what “superstars” did France even have? Thierry Henry? Give me a break, that fool is OK but overrated. France had very good players who kept their head down and worked hard. They didnt have pressure of living up to their own legends – besides Zidane, maybe.. and Zidane showed all of us why he was still the king, especially vs Brazil.
I like the current Brazil squad very much. Luis Fabiano is underrated as a striker, Kaka can orchestrate and works tirelessly, Robinho can play with flair but remains effective, and their defense is fast and can chase down balls. Without the superstars of 2006, this squad has a better chance of winning a World Cup. You only need 1 or 2 stars who can decide the game + 9-10 warriors.
Brazilian Football has always been about scoring more goals then their opponents. Recently, we have seen a team that plays boring football let alone score more goals then their opponents.
I personally thought that USA played better looking football then Brazil in the Confed Cup Final. The build up to the second goal was pure class and the finish was excellent. I have yet to see Luis Fabiano score a goal like that or even Brazil as a team build up play to finish with a goal like that.
Dunga has always been a defensive player and as a coach he hasn’t changed. I’m not saying that Brazil need an overhaul but they need to change the way they have been playing.
If they are struggling to beat a team like South Africa then I can’t see them being challengers next year in the World Cup.
I’m surprise that we haven’t heard any criticism from Brazil and even more surprise that Ronaldo is impressed!!
If Brazil wins the world cup with this current team, nobody will care how “pretty” Luis Fabiano’s goals are. Besides, its not like he scores off his knee, he is a great finisher. His first goal past Buffon and his goal in the 46th min vs USA were pure class. People put too much emphasis on Brazillians prancing down the field singing samba and beating drums.. a win is a win. Besides, South Africa has a good team, they nearly beat Spain.
I like the Selecao right now and the way they play. I hated when Dunga was first appointed mainly for the fact that we are going to have a holding midfielder running the show, but he has proven me and all his critics wrong and i think we owe him nothing but respect. Coaching Brasil is the toughest job on earth because winning alone is not enough, we have to win pretty. I dont see anything wrong with the Selecao as is, i would love to see Diego, Marcelo, Dinho and R9 back when in form and that would add some more flair to the squad but in all fairness, just because we have added some good defensive schemes doesnt mean that we arent play beautifull football anymore, the Selecao still turns the Joga Bonito on at times and still plays the prettiest football on the planet, it just has some defense to go along with that which is something needed and its proven to be winning matches and thats good news.
Just my 2 cents.
Reply to Dirk correct I am from South Africa they really battled to beat us – I was at the stadium and the crowd just shouted ronaldo, ronaldo when the cud not score. Brazil has many fans in SA especially Ronaldo it will be a real shame if he does not come to our shores 2010.
I think we played a really good game thanx to our coach Joel Santana who is brazilian. Brazil should not undermine any of the countries this coming 2010 there is going to lots of surprises so it’s best for them to come well prepared.
Ronaldo is huge in SA the fans adore him so I really hope he will make it just 1 more time. dunga is way too defensive and will not win many games that way.
ronaldo forever !!
