Barcelona fans are set to make their feelings known during the el Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid. Cristiano Ronaldo who has recently returned from injury will be faced with banners calling the Madrid star a pretender to the ‘real Ronaldo.’
The Barcelona Ultras are planning to display huge banners in the form of a club shirt during the derby. The shirt will have ‘RONALDO’ and a large ‘9′ emblazoned on it, and the fans are planning to chant, “Ai solo un Ronaldo, Ai solo un Ronaldo, Ai solo un Ronaldo y no es Portuguese!”
This translates to “There is only one Ronaldo and he isn’t Portuguese” – a clear reference to the real Ronaldo who spent the 1996-97 season with the Blaugrana. He scored an incredible 47 goals in 49 games for the club in all competitions, winning the Cup Winners Cup, the Copa del Rey and a host of individual awards.
Some Barcelona fans added that they found the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo wears number ‘9′ offensive to “the real Ronaldo”. The Portuguese star looks set to feature at the Camp Nou on Sunday, but it appears that he will receive a distinctly hostile reception from the home crowd.

Heres my thoughts: 1) Just like Simon said R9 and CR9 are both excellent so who cares. 2) Ronaldo himself doesn’t give a shit because he is not insecure about himself. he knows he accomplished a lot as a player and is not threatened if his records are broke. Records are meant to be broken and whoever breaks records deserves to be great. give CR9 a break, he is more complete than any player at the moment, plus he is not cocky anymore since he came to madrid. He never bragged about scoring in the fierst 7 league games when the whole team sucked. 3). Ronaldo said in a interview when madrid bought CR9 that he had written his story already playing for real madrid and cristiano is trying to do the same so give him the chance. Ronaldo is not insecure about his talnet or his legendary status and therefore he himself doesnt care that Cristiano has number 9. 4). Barcelona doing this will provke Cristiano to celebrate in an intimidating manner when he scores and will encourage him to do even better. just watch and mark my words.
5). I love Ronaldo (R9) and i like CR9 qualities because few have his capabilites nowadays. Now if you ask me who is the better player, its Ronaldo even above pele (who is a shit player) and even maradonna. I say this becuase he achevied more than pele who played the worldcup at 17 years of age. Ronaldo played 3 cups and one where he was on the roster but didnt play. The last of those cups he was fat and still scored to be the top scorer. I’m convinced Ronaldo himself never wanted to go back to AC Milan because of the MilanLab.Ronaldo and this disgusting Galliani had a quarrel because Ronaldo had no trust anymore in the MilanLab and was by his brazilian doctor in September 2007.Milan was very furious but Ronaldo was right because the brazilian doctor said MilanLab made huge mistakes and diagnosed his injury wrong.After that even Ancelotti apologised to Ronaldo. And people like Berlusconi,his son and Ariedo Braida said after Ronaldo’s injury he has to recover physically and psychologically and therefore they didn’t renew his contract! But the fact is,he was mistreated (the doctor of MilanLab had to go in summer 2008 and they got the doctor from AC Florentina instead) and the most scray thing is THEY KNEW HE HAD PROBLEMS,A DEPRESION, AND THAT WAS A REASON TO LET HIM ALONE! Because of his injury and his uncertain future and the obvious depression (we saw all the pictures from Ibiza e.g. where he always looked very depressive) it’s clear Ronaldo wasn’t able to be in great shape in June 2008 so his shape was not a reason for letting him alone.And if we see the pictures from Ibiza there he has “just” a big belly,but that wouldn’t have been a big problem because it was clear he couldn’t play until 2009,so if Milan said it’s because he is not in shape,that’s really a very ridiculous reason! By the way,AC Milan bought Ronaldinho,got Sheva back and also Boriello and bought Huntelaat, and all of them,especially Ronaldinho earn so much money but no one could really replace Ronaldo. Yeah, you are right,I have nothing against the players of AC Milan.I loved how Maldini reacted after Ronaldo was left alone.In an interview he remembered people how important Ronaldo was for AC Milan and that he helped the team to win the CL2007 even he didn’t play there but he gave them a lot of enthusiasm and calm in the league games.That was Maldini’s way of thanking Ronaldo because AC Milan didn’t do it! hey nameless, ronaldinho and naldo are brazilians and like every one of them they have huge respect for ronaldo but cristiano is portuguese and has nothing to do with r9, maybe even their customs are different and he cant simply take the name ‘cristiano’ like that. i would have preferred that cristiano gave more recogntion to ronaldo like others do because its obvious from where is he basing his style of play but he doesn’t, he is arrogant but its not a big deal and i’m not gonna hate him for that. i wish him all the luck in the classico.
as for ac milan, i think they had little choice there, they knew ronaldo was a risky buy because of his injuries and he did nothing to prove them wrong, he was injured for half a season and returned to play 3 games and got a career ending injury again at 32 years old. you cant stick with someone forever when you see no benefits. what they did was right, but if i was berlusconi or galliani i would have brought back ronaldo to milan after the paulistao, seeing that ronaldo was still not finished and could stay fit for a couple of months, it would have been cheap for them, instead theyre stuck with huntelaar who is a crap striker

ac milan arent ronaldo’s babysitters, he was paid some nice millions of euros to play only three games in a season. in the end they didnt break his contract, just didnt renew it. cant see what wrong they did there, they bought ronaldo and hoped he would turn their fortunes on the pitch but he hardly even played so for that hefty salary what are they supposed to do, give him another year and millions of euros so he can recover (at the point it was not certain whether he was ever going to come back). i’ll always respect milan for giving him a chance when after the world cup 2006 everybody called him finished and capello booted him out of madrid and ronaldo showed hes still a great player but that injury record was unbearable for milan. their so called lab proved to be a total fiasco because it was their job to keep him fit and they couldnt, but milan gave ronaldo a lot of trust.

Every club in the whole world takes responsibility of tehir injured players,this doesn’t mean they give them contracts and millions! Yes,they hoped he would help them and he helped them.Don’t forget when Ronaldo came to Milan they were on the 9th or 10th place and Ronaldo helped them to get on the 4th place and he gave them calm in the league games so Ancelotti could rest some players for the CL games.He helped them really a lot until June 2007.But unfortunetaly he was injured in training in July 2007 and was mistreated by MilanLab which resulted in a dilemma and Ronaldo went to Brazil to a doctor, and AC Milan was very furious because he didn’t say anything and showed the world the MilanLab is shit. first of all i don’t think ronaldo would have agreed to stay and recover in milan for no salary. it was either a new contract or nothing, thats how it is in football. and even ronaldo himself didn’t know whether he was going to stay in football. milan were fed up with ronaldo being injured all the time and he wasted all the credit he had with the knee injury. tragic as it is for him, its completely understandable from milan’s point of view that they didn’t extend his contract. a contract as expensive as ronaldo is extended on the basis of contribution and ronaldo missed 99% of the matches in his second season at milan.

AC Milan did a huge mistake on human level,no one liked what they did,they really should elarn from Inter Milan how to treat palyers with injuries they got defending the club and with depressions!
