The President of Israel, Shimon Peres was in Brazil yesterday and who did he want to meet? None other than the Phenomenon. The pair met before in 2005 and as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN, Ronaldo was again asked to accompany the Israeli President.
The pair exchanged jersey’s and Peres complimented Ronaldo on his last visit.
“I remember your visit to Israel. I had never seen children with such bright eyes, looking up at you. Football has no nation or religion. You are a great person for your talent and personality. You represent peace”, said Peres to Ronaldo.
In response, Ronaldo siad that he is ready to go back to the region of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to contribute to peace process.
“For me, it is an honor. I have been to both sides to convey a message of peace, and I will make another visit. It is worth recalling in Sao Paulo. I live in a neighborhood known to be a Jewish inhabited,” said Ronaldo.

I think Peres wanted to meet Ronaldo because there will be this peace game between Flamengo and Corinthians in Palestine (was 15.September,but Ronaldo was injured). I can remember when this game was announced to take place in Palestine Israel criticised the clubs and said they should also play in Israel,they should do 2 games. But the clubs refused and I guess therefore Peres invited Ronaldo to visit Israel. But Ronaldo was very diplomatic and said what an honour it was to go to Israel AND Palestine. I think it’s clear for Ronaldo and his staff that Peres inivited him because of this peace game which will take place in Palestine. At least I think this is the reason and therefore I think Ronaldo will visit both sides like he did in 2005.
