Ronaldo out of classic against Palmeiras

Ronaldo injured

Dissapointing news once again! Ronaldo is now out of the classic against Palmeiras. After a flying start in the first half against Mirassol, Ronaldo was subsitituted in the second half after picking up a thigh injury.

This is the fourth time that Ronaldo has been injured since joining Corinthians last year. The injury is the same as the one he picked up at the end of last season against Flamengo.

Ronaldo’s injury will be reassessed next week.

what is the pitch quality like in brazil?is it anywhere near european standards?-excluding england,as they have the best turf

  3. EssoBt8 on January 29th, 2010 7:34 am

it is not because the pitch quality…
no matter u like it or not..he is to easy to get injured..
maybe because his weight i guess…
    cmon RONALDO! be strong!

  4. p2p on January 29th, 2010 8:50 am

playing football at a high level whilst being overweight do not go together.

  5. Yasin on January 29th, 2010 9:19 am

im not blaming injury on the pitch just wanted to know in general…

  6. Gashahun on January 29th, 2010 9:49 am

This injury is just 2take care of him more&not this much serious case!look at those strikers lyk Torres,he took care of him himself in z shadow of injury.save power for wc this year.remember 2002 wc.he came from injury!

  7. kenny on January 29th, 2010 12:10 pm

@Gashahun Ronaldo was 25 during the WC in 2002, he is 33 now, he’s body has been through hell, and he is overweight as over, nobody idolizes Ronaldo more than, but i don’t see him making the world cup

  8. insomniac on January 29th, 2010 1:03 pm

well i think if he plays the standard tht he showed in this match and avoid injuries dunga must call him up cox if u look at the HLs ronaldo was dominating the game

  9. the real nameless on January 29th, 2010 1:41 pm

Guys, Ronaldo doesn’t have a new injury!!! It’s a fibrosis,a late effect of his injury from last year against Flamengo. It’s not a thigh injury!!!They said they want to rest him to avoid further injuries. The physio even said if it would be a final match on Sunday Ronaldo would play, but it’s not and they don’t want to risk him, therefore he won’t play. The test diagnosed a light injury,a fibrosis, which is normal if you had a thigh injury. It can happen.Again,it’s not a new injury,so calm down.It has nothing to do with his weight,it’s just a late effect of a previous injury players sometimes have!

    http://www.agora.uol.com.br/vencer/ult10110u686329.shtml

This artcile says it again,it’s not a new muscular injury, just a little fibrosis as a late effect of the injury he had against Flamengo and it’s not worse.

  11. Big daddy on January 29th, 2010 2:10 pm

thats great news Nameless…hope he gets beta & shaves his head off,lol

    We need the old look!

  12. the real nameless on January 29th, 2010 2:27 pm

Yeah, just read Pato was in Brazil for having treatment! I hope he won’t be another victim of MilanLab! Why does he have to go to Brazil to have treatment? I thought his injury is not that worse.

  13. Gashahun on January 29th, 2010 2:39 pm

Oh yeah!,com on!every player in Brazil squad needs him there atleast for advice&o fenomeno is soooo…humble!relative 2others!

  14. ARonaldoFan on January 29th, 2010 3:55 pm

Big daddy yeah I think the old look was cooler too.You know what I hope he shaves his head just before the World Cup so when he goes there it will be like “I’m back, fools”:)

  17. EssoBt8 on January 29th, 2010 10:56 pm

i am wonder he will going to the world cup…
it is because i see the level of Brazilian league is low..
    correct me if i wrong..
but as far as i see it…many more league in other country is far good than this league..
what do you think ronaldo fans?

  18. the real nameless on January 29th, 2010 11:01 pm

No, I think the brazilian league is really strong.I never knew how strong they really are. I rate tham higher than most of the european leagues like netherland, german league, french league. Whenever I watch the games and then watch games in Italy,I have to admit sometimes it even looks like the rbazilian league is stronger. There are at least some clubs in Brazil who really play much greated than a lot of the clubs in Italy or even in the EPL. In the EPL are really a lot average clubs and a few really strong ones!

  19. Gashahun on January 29th, 2010 11:29 pm

For me,Brazil league has financial problems not talent problems.i watched most of ztym highlights, specially if u see Argentina league(uppertura)most goals coming from out of penality box!R9,ADRIANO,EVEN ROBINHO back home due to no lack of good league but media coverage Nothing lyk EPL cos they’ve opportunity.

  20. Fenomenoe9 on January 30th, 2010 3:43 am

Guys i have a question … if C.ronaldo keeps playing until the end of hid career will he be better than the real ronaldo?? coz i was having this argument with a friend who thinks c.ronaldo is better than ronaldo or maybe when he finishes his career. so what u think?/

  21. ARonaldoFan on January 30th, 2010 4:17 am

Come on,he’ll never be as good as our Ronaldo, never in a million years….

  23. Gashahun on January 30th, 2010 4:38 am

Don’t talk too much wit those who have difficulties in understanding futbol.cr9 is normal player(better 2say runner!).o phenomeno is phenomena!no player in z world will be lyk him except R9 born again

  24. Yasin on January 30th, 2010 5:40 am

ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLDOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FOREVER R9 will make it to the world cup SSSSHHHHHAVE THE HEAD RONALDO

  26. Big daddy on January 30th, 2010 7:40 am

The best players are born and play for Brazil…
And every year there are many talented new players comin out of that country!…
So how can you actually compare the brazilian league to other leagues in the world…

The only differnec i can see is ..finianical issues..European clubs are loaded and they control the entire media comparing to other countries in south America…

Ronaldo, roberto carlos,Robinho…all of those players movin to Brazil is a big progress & a certain attraction of entire Media towards the league..

Its the samba magic we looking for, talent and real love to football…not just a bunch of robots moving about on the field

  32. LOL on January 31st, 2010 10:41 am

I cant believe people think THIS Ronaldo will be in the world cup LOL, he is taking the piss £102,000 a week and most the others are on £11,000. He is fattest football player since Jan Molby, he is not going to world cup you muppets.

If Ronaldinho, who is younger, in better shape and playing well in one of the worlds top leagues then there is NO CHANCE, not even 1% that R9 goes to South Africa.

He is so FAT for a footballer and taking all his fans for mugs.

    LOL

  33. LOL on January 31st, 2010 10:43 am

Ronaldinho cant get picked so Ronaldo isnt going fat getting 102,000 a week LOL

Ronaldo doesnt care about World cup you muppets get a life and do something for yourselves cos you wont be seeing Ronaldo 9 at the world cup

  36. jackjonesioio on January 31st, 2010 1:06 pm

big daddy., if you think the only difference between the brazilian league and top european leagues is money then you are wrong on so many levels. money is the reason they go, and because of that, they have all the best players.

  37. Gashahun on January 31st, 2010 3:10 pm

U ppl those who are not fans, please don’t kill ur tym on this site!cos u’ll cry dat day when he scored 4 his beloved country in WC not only participation.we know he is fat but we are optimistic!not lyk u damn shit morons!&u hate him cos u fear him most 4 ur damn team!

Nice said Gashahun LOL just shuvv this paragraph up ur ass.

  39. rogersentongo on January 31st, 2010 3:34 pm

the thing is its very possible for r9 to lose weight in even just two months… and he has 5months.. if anyone saw his game recently he was undoubtedly the best player on the pitch tho he looked overweight!…. c.ronaldo will never be as gud as r9 coz ronaldo won his first world cup at 18 or 17 n his world player awards very early too around the same age!! n went on to got to three finals(including 2010 S.A)hehehhehe cr9 is already past his prime! just watch messi n u’ll see wat am gettin to

  40. jackjonesioio on January 31st, 2010 5:22 pm

what does messi#s ability have to do with Cronaldo being past his prime? that is not evidence.

  41. the real nameless on January 31st, 2010 5:30 pm

LOL,yeah you idiot,Ronadlo worked his ass off and was back after another career threatening injury with 32 just to earn money because to have approximately $200 millions (I read it’s his fortune) was not enough! Buuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Looks pissed off because he isn’t allowed to train with the others and to play. :(

  44. Realistic R9 fan on January 31st, 2010 7:38 pm

Tick tock, tick tock, time is running out, its February now the team gets announced in May..

He is happy playing at a shit level and getting £102,000 a week. Fair play to him, who wouldn’t be.

In your home country surrounded by yes men, life is good for R9 and he was in the squad that won the USA 94 WC, runner up in 98 and He won it in 2002, got all time leading scorer record in 2006. He has nothing to prove and deserves this enjoyment he is getting. He knows he isn’t going to the World Cup, he even said in a recent interview that he doesn’t even think about it anymore, he is enjoying his life.

Dont fool yourselves into thinking he has any chance in making SA, if he was half as bothered about it as some of the guys on this site then I have no doubt that he would of given it a good go, lost the weight and put pressure on Dunga.

    Gracias

  45. The really real namelessly annonymous on January 31st, 2010 7:43 pm

    your right,

He isn’t going to play in South Africa and he does deserve to just do what he wants at this stage in his career,

I will enjoy watching him play at this level, no matter how big he continues to get. We will still see glimpses of his magic from time to time

    Forza Ronaldo

  46. FJD on January 31st, 2010 8:27 pm

He will go to South Africa and here is why.

Ronaldo will score goals in ANY team he plays in. Dunga does not have another player that can be spoken of in that way.

THIS IS NOT 2002. He doesnt have the luxary of chosing between ‘the best’ i.e Romario & Ronaldo like scolari had.

Imagine brazil are 1-0 down in the semi final….you would be CRAZY to not bring backup with you.

A fat ronaldo on the pitch will still take the best by suprise. His fitness was much worse in 2006, but still 3 goals.

It will be last minute, but R9 WILL PLAY IN THIS WORLD CUP.

  47. FJD on January 31st, 2010 8:33 pm

Ronaldo joined WC2006 after having NOT PLAYED FOOTBALL FOR 3 MONTHS.

  48. Dagoods on January 31st, 2010 9:01 pm

    ADRIANO, just scored a hat-trick!
    that’s a total of 4 goals in 2 games

RONALDO 1 goal in 2 games and now is INJURED until who knows how long…

I’m sorry you guys, but things are looking very SLIM for O Fenomeno!

  49. the real nameless on January 31st, 2010 9:11 pm

Dagoods, are you really comparing them at the beginning of the season where tehy have until may time to convince Dunga? Maybe Ronaldo will score 3 times a httrick this season until May and Adriano won’t score a goal in the next 10 matches! You never know, you shouldn’t judge from the first appearance! And by the way, doesn’t matter what Adriano does on the pitch,he never could convince in the NT under Dunga. He was called up often and ALWAYS FAILED DEEPLY! So what shpuld Dunga do with him if he calls him up for the friendlies in March and he fails again?! Do you really think Adriano will be his priority?! He needs strikers WHO CAN PERFORM WITH THE NT!
Guys, just relax,he has no injury,he has a fibrosis, that’s not an injury and is a late effect of his injury he had in december! That’s something totally different because players often have fibrosis if they had a muscle strain!
AND HE WILL PALY AT THE WC2010,THAT’S AS SURE AS DEATH AND TAXES!

  50. the real nameless on January 31st, 2010 9:23 pm

And by the way,Ronaldo palyed great last game,he scored 2 goals, but the second one was offside they say but to be honest,it really looks like he was in line. And then he had this shot which was cleared on the line,it could have been easily a hattrick.I mean he was not lucky last game but he was great,he had a few shots on the net.I just saw the goals of Adriano and the first one was a penalty goal and the last one was soooooo easy even I could have scored. The ball was passed to the half of Fluminense and the defenders were sleeping,so Adriano almost wlaked the way to the net,he was totally alone with the goalkeeper,no defender. It’s good for him to score a hattrick but don’t do like it was a big issue,if you look to his goals,it wasn’t a big issue!

  51. S-Dub on January 31st, 2010 9:34 pm

Nameless – it doesnt matter how easy they are or if they are pens, they all count the same, we will be happy for R9 to score a hat-trick the same way right now.

FJD – he was 4 years younger then he is now.

I don’t personally think R9 or Adriano will go to the WC but I hope I am wrong. I really do, It wont be the same watching the WC without Ronaldo, and possibly even Ronaldinho.

to be honest I’m not really even looking forward to the world cup now. No Ronaldo = no excitement

  52. Shiva Srinivasan on January 31st, 2010 9:54 pm

I feel the World cip 2010 is now only wishful thinking by Ronaldo-The dude, is just not fit enough..I am a true blooded R9 fan but i just don’t see him now with his present fittnes in the World Cup. Prove me wrong ‘Phenomeno’!

  53. the real nameless on January 31st, 2010 10:22 pm

But at the end it’s not only how many goals you scored but also how you played,if you were a big help for your team, and even how you played with the NT.There Ronaldo has a huge advantage because unlike Adriano Ronaldo is a player Dunga doesn’t need to test in the NT.He said it a few times now. With Adriano it’s difficult, doesn’t matter how he plays in his club (he was great at Inter too) but as long as he fails in the NT,and he failed since WC2006 whenever he was called up,I don’t think Dunga can really rely on him and trust him at the WC2010!
Why is Ronado not fit enough Shiva?Didn’t you see his progress? Didn’t you see he lost a bit weight? So he is on the right track! Again,he is not injured,he has a late effect a lot of players have after a muscle strain. He will be back soon,he is not out for a month,1-2 weeks only. And it’s good he is out NOW,while Paulista Championship, because end of February the Copa Libertadores games start and there he has to give a lot,so it’s ok if he doesn’t play these Paulista games which are not important.A few weeks ago the medical department even said they want him to rest and train until end of February, but then Mano decided to let him play much sooner.Otherwise he would have started playing end of February!

  54. jackjonesioio on February 1st, 2010 8:55 am

nameless, adriano hasn’t been good at inter since the 2004/5 season, he was awesome that season and that is when he made his name, in the 2005/6 he was not as good but still did well, however in the 2006/7 and 2007/8 seasons he was rubbish, and last season he scored 5 goals for inter. ever since he has been a waste of space, with occasioal goals and many problems. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adriano_Leite_Ribeiro

  55. jackjonesioio on February 1st, 2010 8:58 am

no one takes unfit players to major tournaments, every player counts in a world cup squad, there isn’t room to take luxuries. ronaldo is world class but not many professional coaches would take him to the world cup over other strikers, it isn’t just dunga, most managers value fitness.

  56. Dagoods on February 1st, 2010 12:12 pm

O Fenomeno will be back on Sat. (the 13th-14th) it’s an way game!

I just hope he’ll be ready by then, come on R9 give us all a nice Valentine’s present! 2 goals will do, for me :D !

    FORCA O FENOMENO!

  57. S-Dub on February 1st, 2010 12:21 pm

Who said Adriano was going to WC?

  58. NYG_R9 on February 1st, 2010 1:20 pm

hey i know its dissapointing, but Ronaldo has lived thru injuries so we cant really get upset but only hope there minor…LETS GO FENOMENO!!

  59. the real nameless on February 1st, 2010 2:05 pm

A lot of coaches would call up Ronaldo to a WC!!!!!!
Coaches like Quereiz, the NT coach of Portugal e.g. said,he would sign Ronaldo for every club and would call him up in every NT,doesn’t matter WHICH SHAPE HE IS!He said alone his presence on the pitch is totally important because it makes the defenders and goalkeepers get nervous. As long as he has the ball, you can see clearly how nervous everybody gets! And he was talking about Ronaldo, not Cristiano! And Maradona said he would call up Ronaldo even if he is 100kg,because it doesn’t matter in which shape he is,he can always score and is always dangerous!I’m convinced even Mourinho would call him up because it’s like Maradona and even Dunga said,Ronaldo can always score,he is always a danger, and every coach with a little knowledge about football would call Ronaldo up,ESPECIALLY FOR A WC!!! But the thing with Dunga is he is too stubborn,he has his own mind and wants to be successfull with his way.I’m more than sure if Ronaldo would be 100% fit now,Dunga would try to find another excuse to not call him up but in this case he won’t be successfull, because than everybody would really put him under unbelievably pressure. He HAD to call him up!

  60. the real nameless on February 1st, 2010 2:27 pm

It’s great Ronaldo will return to the field at 13th February! Before he made his first game it was even said he should start playing at 24th February, when the Copa Libertadores starts. And maybe this would have been better.Mano shouldn’t have let him play much sooner.Maybe the medical department knew he can have this late effect,a fibrosis,if he already starts to play. Anyway,I’m glad they rest him the next two games and hopefully just let him play if he is really completely healed!!! Otherwise he will be out for another 2,3 weeks! Mano should really listen to the doctors!!! Especially if you consider it’s just Paulista Championship, means they often play against crap teams (except 1,2 clubs). There is really NO NEED to rush his comeback!!!

  61. Gashahun on February 1st, 2010 2:28 pm

That is it!100kg nomatter!wat matters is think again &again no one in da world scored 15 wc goals!even me wit a little futbol idea but specialist in physics(though not lyk Anstein!)would col someone famous for dat particular tournament!

  63. S-Dub on February 2nd, 2010 2:56 am

Nameless he isn’t going, he isn’t even motivated by the NT anymore,

    move on

  64. Robert on February 3rd, 2010 4:34 am

I am in SA and waiting for Ronaldo

  65. jackjonesioio on February 3rd, 2010 7:08 am

?liweifeng, it is dunga’s decision, not yours, not mine. whether you like it or not dunga knows more than we do when it comes to ronaldo and the brazil NT.

  66. Robert on February 3rd, 2010 7:42 am

I agree with you but that wont change the fact that i need to see him playing in SA .that is my wish despite Dunga’s griviences .

  67. the real nameless on February 3rd, 2010 10:44 am

He is participating definitly at the WC2010 if he isn’t injured,S-Dub! And to say he is not motivated is, sorry, but really ridiculous!

  68. S-Dub on February 4th, 2010 3:15 am

NAMELESS. He is NOT motivated to make the NT this is VERY common knowledge in Brasil, When was the last time you was even in Brasil?

I will bet you £100 british pounds that he wont make the WC. If he is injured at the time which the squad is announced (which is very likely) then the bet becomes void but if he is playing we will count the bet. It’s time to put money where your mouth is.

  69. zox on February 4th, 2010 6:21 am

how are you so sure that hes not motivated? he constantly says otherwise. is it because he doesnt get thin enough for you? maybe he CAN’T look much thinner, have you thought of that? i’ve talked to a couple of brazilians on the subject and according to them he is very motivated. i dont know how either of you can win that bet because there is no proof he’s motivated or not.

  70. the real nameless on February 4th, 2010 9:49 am

S-Dub,he is totally motivated! You could see it when he was out again,he is totally pissed off because he is out again, this shows he is totally motivated and WANTS TO PLAY AND BE IN THE WC2010 squad! Why shouldn’t he be motivated? This makes no sense man! He didn’t come back just to earn money, this is insane,he has more than enough money,he didn’t suffer so much through rehab just to be lazy and earn a few dollars more!
And about Brazil, you are totally wrong! I also talked with some brazilians, they are sometimes even in the chatroom, and they say Brazil is like a “Ronaldo Football Club”,everyone wants him in the NT and he will be there if he is not injured. And if he is injured it doesn’t mean he is not motivated,it’s just because he always was injury prone.Look at Kaka e.g.,they say now Kaka will get treatment maybe throughout his whole life because he has some serious problems and is often injured now! Or look at Marco Van Basten,he retired with 28 because he was injured so often. And even Pato can’t get really healed,so to be injured doesn’t mean you are not motivated, therefore don’t train and are injured.

  71. S-Dub on February 4th, 2010 4:11 pm

the bet isn’t if he is motivated or not, the bet is if he makes the wc squad or not, you in and Zox you want to bet me on this too?

your message at 1044am said “He is participating definitly at the WC2010 if he isn’t injured” I would disagree and am willing to bet against that.

    you in?

  72. S-Dub on February 4th, 2010 4:12 pm

and ps, i just got back from Brasil

  73. zox on February 4th, 2010 4:28 pm

nobody knows whether he’ll make it, it depends on his performance form and fitness, but its a fact that he is motivated and that he will do whatever he can in his limits to be there.

  74. the real nameless on February 4th, 2010 4:43 pm

You said he isn’t motivated, this was the topic of the discussion. And it’s not important where you were,if in Brazil or not.I read very often brazilian sports sites e.g.,the serious ones, and if you think I have to go there instead of reading these sites, that’s ridiculous. This would mean even sport journalists don’t know anything if they are taking about Ronaldo because they weren’t in Brazil! What a logical way to think! There are thousand of informations in Internet e.g.,and whenever I speak to brazilians, they say the contrary of what you say,and THEY LIVE IN BRAZIL! So it’s not important where you were,S-Dub!
If Ronaldo is not injured before WC2010 and plays great until May,he will be called up,because he is doing A LOT OF PROGRESS,he lost weight,it’s just a few kilos, but a few more, not many, and he will be in good shape. He won’t be thin,he will be at 90kg,maybe 91kg,but this is his ideal weight, forget about WC2002 weight, this is impossible, even the doctors said it! So the only thing which can stop him in taking part at the WC2010 is an injury!!!And it’s no problem for me to bet on this!!!
