Ronaldo promises to improve in the second half of the season
Ronaldo’s performance this season has ended his chances of wearing the number nine shirt for Brazil one last time. Out of shape and far below his standards, Ronaldo has failed to win over the crowd this season. The Corinthians failed to defend the Paulista Championship and failed to achieve their primary goal, which was to win the Copa Libertadores.
Ronaldo has now promised to improve his performance in the second half of the season. Aware that he will not make Dunga’s 30 man squad in the World Cup, Ronaldo sees this break as a chance to get back into shape and to solve some physical problems.
“My projection is trying to improve, solve some physical problems, take this time to rest and try again without pain. I have played this year with some problems, but always with a spirit of great sacrifice too. I’m trying to help as best we can. I hope things improve for the second half,” expressed Ronaldo.
Ronaldo made a great start with the Corinthians and many believed that he would make it to South Africa. However, numerous injuries and problems has prevented Ronaldo on continuing his excellent performance. In a recent interview Ronaldo stated that his career is coming to an end. The constant battering on his body has taken its toll but the Phenomenon still has a little more to give. Ronaldo believes that he can still win the Brasileirão and may also compete for the Copa Libertadores in 2011.
“It is logical that football or any other sport at high level is very stressful. You train and you are in pain every day. But I promise that as long as you have fun and pleasure, I’ll continue. When that’s gone, I will hang up my boots,” stated Ronaldo.
Ronaldo has also made it clear that he will participate in the World Cup as a commentator via twitter.
